Sustainable water management under climate change in small island states of the Caribbean (WATER-aCCSIS) : final technical report
The Water-aCCSIS research project (originally, “Sustainable Water Management under Climate Change in Small Island States of the Caribbean”) examines how climate change might impact water availability at the catchment level. The approach enabled the investigation of differentiated impacts on: water availability-scarcity; anthropogenic-ecosystem water requirements; vulnerable groups; droughts, and the contribution of ecosystem services. Research included climate downscaling, vegetation modelling, environmental health, and livelihood impacts. Affecting all of these is the hydrological functioning of catchments. There is a growing consensus that “the potential impact of climate change on society will be transmitted through the medium of water” (GWPO, 2010).
