Reproductive, maternal, newborn, child & adolescent health in conflict settings: case studies to inform implementation of interventions

This research project will contribute to evidence from four country case studies in Syria, South Sudan, Mali, and Colombia or the Democratic Republic of Congo as part of a global project to inform developing operational guidance on interventions related to reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH) in conflict settings. The objectives of this project are to understand how decisions on RMNCAH interventions in conflict settings are reached; the gaps in service provision and in the populations reached; and the impact of such interventions, including intervention delivery strategies.

The project will be conducted by a global academic research consortium led by the SickKids Hospital’s Centre for Global Child Health (Canada) in collaboration with local academic and implementation partners. The outcomes include a set of five papers in an early 2019 issue of The Lancet that will synthesize findings from across this global project and will be launched at the International Congress of Pediatrics in March 2019. There will be other venues of dissemination, including conferences, symposia, and in-country dissemination of findings.
