Reimagining the future of global health through a feminist and decolonial lens
During the week of January 22-27, 2024, scholars, policymakers, implementers and activists will gather under the banner of “Geopolitics, human security and health equity in an era of polycrises” at the Prince Mahidol Award Conference in Bangkok, Thailand.
One of the sub-themes of this year’s Prince Mahidol Award Conference is “Reimagining global health: Decolonisation of global health governance.”
Researchers funded by IDRC from the United Nations University’s International Institute for Global Health will present their work on decolonial feminist futures. Dr. Emma Rhule and Tifanny Nassiri-Ansari will present a poster that draws on practical applications and lessons learned from the IDRC-supported workshop Enabling Environments to Advance Gender Equality in Health. The evidence to be presented shows that decolonial feminist futures are a way to address and redress historical injustices and power imbalances in global health.
