This project is supporting a regional hub in East Africa to strengthen the knowledge ecosystem and evidence uptake on the Sustainable Development Goals with an initial priority in reproductive health and the transition to low-carbon economies. It will support the hub’s role as a centre of excellence for capacity building in partner countries; develop tools and approaches to strengthen knowledge transfer capacity; ensure integration of gender, equity, diversity and inclusion considerations; document best practices, stories of change and lessons learned; and facilitate co-learning and knowledge sharing both in the region and across Africa.
More generally, the project will strengthen institutional and individual technical capacity in evidence-informed policymaking (EIP) at local and national levels; integrate gender equity in EIP processes within beneficiary processes and institutions; nurture EIP networking and learning within target countries and contribute to a collaborative learning network in sub-Saharan Africa; and stimulate improvements in reproductive health and clean energy programmatic interventions in Kenya and Nigeria.
This project is funded through the Partnership for Evidence and Equity in Responsive Social Systems (PEERSS2), re-named the Learning together to advance Evidence and Equity in Policymaking (LEEPS). LEEPS aims to strengthen the knowledge-translation ecosystem in Africa. It also aims to promote the institutionalization of evidence-informed policy making. The LEEPS program is jointly funded by the Hewlett Foundation and IDRC.
