The Principles for Equitable Global Health Research were developed by the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research (now the Canadian Association for Global Health) with the aim of ensuring that global health research is practiced in an equitable way. They include authentic partnering, inclusion, shared benefits, commitment to the future, responsiveness to the causes of inequities and humility. Across these principles, equity is a central pillar.

Since their publication in 2015, these principles are increasingly being seen as exemplary in the broader field of health equity. However, awareness of the principles and their uptake remains limited. The goal of this project is to support their fulsome integration into action across the Canadian global health research ecosystem. A grant will be awarded via a competitive call that will be open to organizations based in Canada with preference given to proposals that include significant collaboration with researchers/research institutions based in low- and lower-middle-income countries. It is expected that this project will strengthen the quality and impact of Canadian global health research.
