This project will identify the causes and impact of unwanted pregnancies in Morocco in vulnerable girls and women. The methodology will include population surveys, interviews and focus-group discussions to analyze gender discrimination and its links to unwanted pregnancies. The project will be carried out in four regions of the country targeting women from disadvantaged and vulnerable social groups. The project will also focus on reproductive health policies and how they address issues of gender-based violence, particularly the reach of such policies to vulnerable social groups.

The results of this research will lead to development of tools and recommendations to adopt human rights-based and operational actions to reduce discrimination in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender-based inequalities in vulnerable populations. These products will be designed for use by young girls and women, practitioners and communities to empower themselves and influence SRHR policies at provincial and national levels. Project outputs include a variety of knowledge-translation products, including scientific publications, conference presentations, technical reports and policy analyses.
