This funding will help strengthen the Initiative prospective agricole et rurale's (IPAR-Senegal) role as a credible public policy institution in Senegal by enhancing its ability to provide high-quality, influential, and policy-relevant research.

About the Initiative prospective agricole et rurale
IPAR-Senegal is an independent, non-profit research organization committed to informing national public debate and promoting ongoing dialogue between policymakers, researchers, and research users in Senegal.

IPAR-Senegal's research agenda focuses on rural development, agriculture, migration and employment, and food security policies. These are all key issues in Senegal's current development policy debate. It receives its funding from the Think Tank Initiative (TTI).

Sound research, policy influence
TTI is a multi-funder program dedicated to strengthening independent policy research institutions, or think tanks, in developing countries. The program aims to enhance their ability to provide sound research that informs and influences policy.

This second TTI phase (2014?2019) will fund 43 institutions. This will help them consolidate their role as credible development actors in their countries, and in some cases, regionally and internationally. For IPAR-Senegal, this project will help enhance its research quality, organizational performance, and policy engagement.

Enhancing research and policy engagement
Through this support over the next 4.5 years, IPAR-Senegal is expected to
-improve its research quality and quantity with publications in peer-reviewed journals
-strengthen researchers' capacity for quality analysis
-integrate gender into its programming activities, research, and policy recommendations
-actively engage with policymakers and other stakeholders on important development issues
-strengthen the skills and knowledge of junior researchers
-improve its communication and outreach capacity
-facilitate policy dialogue between stakeholders on topics of national and regional interest
-diversify its partnerships and attain financial sustainability
