This funding will help strengthen the role of Fundacio´n Salvadoren~a para el Desarrollo Econo´mico y Social (FUSADES) as a credible public policy institution in El Salvador by strengthening its ability to provide high-quality, influential, and policy-relevant research.

About FUSADES
FUSADES is a private non-profit organization that aims to improve El Salvador's economic and social development. The foundation has many functions. It conducts research, develops proposals for public policy, conducts social audits, and facilitates dialogue. FUSADES receives its funding from the Think Tank Initiative (TTI).

Sound research, policy influence
TTI is a multi-funder program dedicated to strengthening independent policy research institutions, or think tanks, in developing countries. The program aims to enhance their ability to provide sound research that informs and influences policy.

This second TTI phase (2014?2019) will fund 43 institutions, helping them consolidate their role as credible development actors in their countries, and in some cases, regionally and internationally. For FUSADES, this project will help enhance its research quality, organizational performance, and policy engagement.

Enhancing research, increasing engagement
Through this support over the next 4.5 years, FUSADES is expected to
-engage in collaborative research projects with first-rate researchers locally and internationally
-conduct opinion surveys to build a body of research with primary data collected by the institution
-create a new organizational structure that allows its research departments (economic, social, political, and legal) to engage in multidisciplinary research
-establish a monitoring and evaluation system for strategic planning
-develop and implement a resource mobilization strategy for institutional sustainability
-obtain an international accreditation for best practices for civil society organizations
-implement a strategic communications plan designed to share research and build researchers' communications skills.
