In recent years, new organizations and partnerships have been emerging in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to advance research for development and scientific progress. This project aims to conceptualize, map and assess recent alliances and partnerships in the region to enhance collaboration among key players in research for development.
Through a comprehensive analysis of current alliances aligned with emerging research trends, the project seeks to reinforce collaborative networks, optimize knowledge exchange and expand innovative funding models that address development challenges in LAC. Emphasis will be placed on evaluating the role of alliances in science and research that promote effective solutions for vulnerable populations. Recent and existing alliances involving new actors and traditional donors and funders active in selected contexts in LAC will be explored, aiming at understanding business models, main outcomes, sustainability and replicability of alliances.
The project will work with other initiatives led by IDRC and its partners to study how science, technology and innovation funders in LAC are securing diverse external funding and collaborating to generate and apply new knowledge on topics relevant to major development trends in the region.
