For over 50 years, IDRC has supported researchers and institutions worldwide to address key development challenges. This project aims to analyze and share outcomes of research teams in Latin America and the Caribbean, emphasizing their contributions to development and their impact on institutions, networks and alliances. By documenting these success stories within selected national and international contexts, the project seeks to inform research assessments in the research-for-development sector and engage a wider audience, including new public and private funders.
Brazil, Colombia, Jamaica, Mexico and Peru were chosen to represent diverse development paths based on income and governance. The study will also focus on achieving gender balance among research leaders and teams. Preference will be given to initiatives completed from 1990 to 2020 that span various development priorities, alliances, information access, local and regional contexts and drivers of change.
