Lebanon is experiencing an unprecedented crisis characterized by a severe financial collapse since 2019 and exacerbated by a devastating war that began on September 17, 2024. The compounded effects have led to widespread destruction, significant loss of life, mass displacement and deepening socio-economic inequalities.
This project will establish a post-war reconstruction and economic observatory. This observatory aims to guide Lebanon's recovery by providing systematic analysis, fostering inclusive dialogue and offering evidence-based policy recommendations. Focusing on three core components — equitable reconstruction and rehabilitation, sustainable economic transformation and institutional renewal — the observatory will serve as a knowledge hub and collaborative platform for civil society organizations, international donors, policymakers and communities. By integrating lessons from past recovery efforts and emphasizing gender and youth inclusion, the project seeks to ensure a people-centered recovery that addresses systemic issues and promotes long-term stability.
