Climate change and migration intersect to shape women’s health and resilience in Southeast Asia, particularly in urban Malaysia where local women, internal migrants and foreign migrants face unique vulnerabilities that impact women’s health and wellbeing. Climate stressors impact their psychosocial health, and their urogenital health can be compromised due to inadequate water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in the work and community environments of migrant women.
This project will co-develop and evaluate a women-led intervention that integrates climate health and stress management as an entry point to psychosocial wellbeing, mental health and urogenital health. It will include multilingual curricula, facilitation guides, peer-support activities, tailored training modules and early implementation instruments. These will be developed alongside policy briefs for Malaysian and regional stakeholders, including a Nepal-specific brief on integrating climate, psychosocial and urogenital health preparedness into pre-departure programs.
Together, these outputs will provide the basis for scalable, women-led approaches at the regional level through knowledge-sharing events and knowledge products directed at strengthening national efforts for climate resilience among reproductive age migrant women in the region.
