The overall objective of this project is to promote the large-scale adoption of more energy efficient cooking technologies in Benin to reduce the time spent on this unpaid domestic activity while reducing the carbon footprint of households.

The research will provide evidence on the use of women’s time in rural areas and promote the reduction and redistribution of women’s unpaid domestic work and care. It will document the socio-economic and environmental impacts of using the Guev cooker on women’s economic empowerment and greenhouse gas emissions and it will promote improved household access to Guev cooker technology by disseminating research and exploring public-private partnerships for scaling up technology.
