Towards further inclusion in the Open Government Partnership (OGP), the Feminist Open Government (FOGO) Initiative was launched in 2018 to encourage governments and civil societies to take concrete gender actions. This detailed review focuses on Kenya and Ghana, exploring previous OGP processes in both countries and their attention to gender inclusivity. The study reveals that neither countries have deliberately sought to include women in the OGP processes.

This paper outlines findings of the study regarding gender-responsive Open Government Partnership (OGP) processes in Kenya and Ghana. The study explored the extent to which open government efforts as they currently exist in national action plans (NAPs) and Open Government Partnership (OGP) processes, serve to dismantle equality-unfriendly systems, and how they can strengthen the ability of women to exercise their agency.
