TTI Phase 2 Institutional Support: Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka
This funding will enhance the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka's (IPS) role as a credible public policy institution in Sri Lanka by strengthening its ability to provide high-quality, influential, and policy-relevant research.
About the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka
IPS is an autonomous institution that promotes policy-oriented economic research and strengthens the capacity for policy analysis in Sri Lanka. The institute's research agenda includes poverty and social welfare, environmental economics, agricultural economics, and human resources development. IPS receives its funding from the Think Tank Initiative (TTI).
Partnering for strong institutions
TTI is a multi-funder program dedicated to strengthening independent policy research institutions, or think tanks, in developing countries. The program aims to enhance their ability to provide sound research that informs and influences policy.
This second TTI phase (2014?2019) will fund 43 institutions, helping them consolidate their role as credible development actors in their countries, and in some cases, regionally and internationally. For IPS, this project will help enhance its research quality, organizational performance, and policy engagement.
Enhancing research, performance, and policy engagement
Through this support over the next 4.5 years, IPS is expected to
-consolidate the institutional transformations made to achieve improved performance
-make significant new inroads into research and policy networks, with new collaborations and global visibility
-improve its research rigour, with more cited publications and wider use of its research
-improve the focus of its research coverage, add new areas of policy importance, and attract new and sustained sources of funding
-influence policies based on its work to place Sri Lanka on a smarter growth path
-have an impact on the country's transition to a middle-income economy.
