TTI Phase 2 Institutional Support: FUNDACIÓN ARU

This funding will strengthen the role of Fundación ARU as a credible public policy institution in Bolivia by enhancing its ability to provide high-quality, influential, and policy-relevant research.

About Fundación ARU
Fundación ARU is a non-profit organization that aims to promote scientific research on topics relevant to Bolivia's economy. The foundation focuses primarily on macroeconomic analysis, but also works on other areas such as social protection, decentralization, and education. It receives its funding from the Think Tank Initiative (TTI).

Partnerships for stronger institutions
TTI is a multi-funder program dedicated to strengthening independent policy research institutions, or think tanks, in developing countries. The program aims to enhance their ability to provide sound research that informs and influences policy.

This second TTI phase (2014-2019) will fund 43 institutions, helping them consolidate their role as credible development actors in their countries, and in some cases, regionally and internationally. For Fundación ARU, this project will help enhance its research quality, organizational performance, and policy engagement.

Experience and influence
Through this support over the next 4.5 years, Fundación ARU is expected to
-increase the number of senior researchers, and the proportion of senior to junior researchers
-advance its research agenda through studies based on intensive primary data collection, including a new social accountability matrix for Bolivia and a baseline to measure multi-dimensional poverty and well-being
-engage in collaborative research projects with research centres in Bolivia and abroad
-increase its board's independence with three new non-staff members
-upgrade information and communications technologies to support institutional growth
