TTI Phase 2 Institutional Support: Desarrollo, Participación y Ciudadanía

This funding will advance Instituto Desarrollo, Participación y Ciudadanía (ID)'s role as a credible policy research institution in Paraguay by strengthening its ability to provide high-quality, influential, and policy-relevant research.

About Instituto Desarrollo, Participación y Ciudadanía
ID seeks to contribute to knowledge and to influence public policy design in the area of economic and social development. Its research projects cover a wide number of topics, from agricultural economics and income distribution to education, governance, and decentralization. It receives its funding from the Think Tank Initiative (TTI).

Stronger independent policy research institutions
TTI is a multi-funder program dedicated to strengthening independent policy research institutions, or think tanks, in developing countries. The program aims to enhance their ability to provide sound research that informs and influences policy.

This second TTI phase (2014-2019) will fund 43 institutions, helping them consolidate their role as credible development actors in their countries, and in some cases, regionally and internationally. For ID, this project will help enhance its research quality, organizational performance, and policy engagement.

Better research, performance, and engagement
Through this support over the next 4.5 years, ID is expected to
-reach higher research standards through a new internal peer-review system and more publications in international peer-reviewed journals
-become an attractive option for researchers to pursue long-term careers through staff incentives
-be more visible and influential through active engagement with the media and policy stakeholders
-strengthen resource mobilization activities and enjoy greater long-term financial sustainability

This funding will help ID attain its vision of becoming a key player in policy development in Paraguay through rigorous research and sustainable operations.
