About Asociación de Investigación y Estudios Sociales
ASIES is a private, non-profit organization focused on researching and analyzing issues relevant to Guatemala. Its research program covers economics, political science, and the legal system. It proposes policy options that are democratic, pluralistic, transparent, and fair. It receives its funding from the Think Tank Initiative (TTI).

Tools to inform and influence policy
TTI is a multi-funder program dedicated to strengthening independent policy research institutions, or think tanks, in developing countries. The program aims to enhance their ability to provide sound research that informs and influences policy.

This second TTI phase (2014-2019) will fund 43 institutions, helping them consolidate their role as credible development actors in their countries, and in some cases, regionally and internationally. For ASIES, this project will help enhance its research quality, organizational performance, and policy engagement.

Better research, performance, and engagement
Through this support over the next 4.5 years, ASIES is expected to
-achieve high organizational efficiency and effectiveness by implementing systems for knowledge management, human resource management, administrative and financial management, and monitoring and evaluation
-develop a body of research that addresses policy concerns on security and access to justice, political party reform, inclusive development in a multicultural society, economic growth, and education
-add new areas to its research agenda, such as environment and climate change, and produce policy-oriented research
-implement a communications and policy influence strategy, including an intensive campaign around the 2015 elections in Guatemala
-increase its endowment and mobilize resources to ensure long-term sustainability.
