This project will contribute to addressing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and gender-based violence (GBV)-related morbidity and mortality among migrants residing in Morocco, particularly among women and girls. The project’s activities will include a population survey, focus groups and interviews with migrant women and girls, healthcare providers and health managers. The study sites will consist of geographic areas popular with migrants, mainly in Casablanca, Rabat and Tangiers. Analysis will identify barriers and determinants of access and utilization of SRH/GBV services, focusing on the impact of poor and disadvantaged living conditions. This information will then support the development and rolling out of relevant intervention(s) with the aim to evaluate and validate their impact.

Project outputs will include scientific articles, research reports, policy reports and policy briefs, among other knowledge translation products, and a national conference focusing on recommendations to integrate successful interventions into the national migrant policy and program. The overall aim is to enhance accessibility and utilization of existing public SRH and GBV services by migrant women and girls residing in Morocco.

Summary

Migrants’ access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services is constrained by several individual, organisational and structural barriers. To address these barriers, many interventions have been developed and implemented worldwide to facilitate the access and utilisation of SRH services for migrant populations. The aim of this scoping review was to identify the characteristics and scope of interventions, their underlying theory of change, reported outcomes and key enablers and challenges to improve access to SRH services for migrants.
