Energy transition for women’s economic empowerment through the horticultural value chain in Guinea and Senegal

 

This project aims to promote the empowerment of women in the horticultural value chain in Senegal and Guinea, two countries with great potential in solar energy and in small-scale irrigation development. The challenge is to provide the evidence needed for public and private decision-making to promote energy-efficient, non-polluting water management solutions in the horticultural value chain. It is expected that the analyses will shed light on public policymakers’ deliberations in line with national energy transition ambitions. It is also expected that these analyses will shed light on the Centre d’Etude et de Coopération Internationale’s interventions in the field and lead to greater, and larger-scale, empowerment of women involved in the horticultural value chain in Senegal and Guinea. The research team includes professional researchers and development practitioners. Government institutions such as the Ministère en charge de la Femme [ministry in charge of women] and the Ministère de l’Agriculture [ministry of agriculture] will be involved in the research consortium.
