There is limited implementation research from scholars and innovators based in the Global South that focuses on the use of responsible artificial intelligence (AI) to improve health outcomes. Most studies focus predominantly on clinical settings based in the Global North. Measuring results, learning from experience, and positioning rigorous and contextualized knowledge from the Global South can influence discourse, policies and innovations within and across these countries.
This project aims to fill this gap by analyzing and amplifying stories of change and other compelling evidence through various knowledge products, networking opportunities and a use-focused monitoring, evaluation and learning approach. Leveraging the existing AI for Global Health knowledge hub hosted on the Global Health Network, this project will support visibility, scale and sustainability of different AI for global health initiatives, using data-driven and use-focused approaches for measurement, analysis and knowledge generation.
This project is part of the Artificial Intelligence for Development: Responsible AI, Empowering People (AI4D-FCDO) program, a five-year partnership with the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to support policy, innovations and expanded leadership to spur safe and responsible AI development. The vision of the program is to support an inclusive, responsible AI ecosystem that improves the quality of life for all in Africa and beyond.
