Pierre Kadet

IDRC’s Climate-Resilient Food Systems division is led by Pierre Kadet, who brings to the position more than 20 years of expertise in food systems, climate adaptation and resilience building. With a PhD in physical geography and rural planning from the University of Montpellier III, he has led impactful programs and research in climate-smart agriculture and sustainable development across West Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
Previously, as senior regional director at Mennonite Economic Development Associates and senior program manager at CARE Canada, he managed multi-million-dollar portfolios and built crucial partnerships to enhance climate resilience and empower women and youth in the agri-food sector. Pierre’s career also includes significant roles with organizations like Action Against Hunger, the Norwegian Refugee Council and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. A steadfast leader in policy and advocacy, he has co-chaired the Canadian Food Security Policy Group and the Canadian Coalition on Climate Change and Development. Pierre is dedicated to advancing innovative, evidence-based solutions for resilient food systems worldwide.
