Acting Director, Internal Audit

As Acting Director, Internal Audit, Mark is responsible for establishing, leading and directing an internal audit function to enhance and protect organizational value by providing stakeholders with risk-based, objective and reliable assurance, advice and insight. This is accomplished by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of IDRC’s internal control framework, governance and risk-management processes.

With over 25 years of experience in internal audit, Mark brings deep expertise in risk management, compliance, internal controls and data analytics. Prior to his current role, he contributed to IDRC as a project lead within the Internal Audit Division. His earlier career includes audit roles in several federal departments and Crown corporations, including Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Canada Post and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, where he conducted value-added audits across diverse functions and service lines.

Mark holds an Internal Auditor certification, an International MBA, a Bachelor of Commerce and a BA in economics.
