Territorial acknowledgement
IDRC’s head office is situated on the unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe People whose stewardship of the land and waters we now call Ottawa dates back to time immemorial.
Indigenous knowledge is strongly linked to the land and ways of life. As an organization supporting and sharing knowledge in Canada and internationally, IDRC reaffirms the value of local and Indigenous forms of knowledge.
We also recognize the history and experience of colonization. Much work remains to be done on the path to reconciliation, including through decolonizing knowledge. This is a reflection of our commitment to continue to support and honour Indigenous and local voices.
