Webinar series: Shaping policymaking in Africa
Today’s policymakers are dealing with shifting geopolitical landscapes, rapidly evolving technology and the impacts of economic and climate crisis. In this uncertain world, getting knowledge and know-how to the right people at the right time is more valuable than ever. The Learning Together to Advance Evidence and Equity in Policymaking for Achieving the SDGs (LEEPS) supports three organizations acting as centres of excellence to stimulate the translation of knowledge into government policies, plans and programs to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The LEEPS-supported organizations provide policymakers with information — while respecting their decision-making timelines — by carrying out systematic reviews and rapid syntheses of evidence, as well as by holding dialogues and citizens’ panels to gather practical knowledge from key stakeholders.
To showcase their achievements, the IDRC-hosted webinars bring together researchers and policymakers in a virtual panel format to discuss their on-the-ground experiences. They share what it’s like to collaborate with others and the future of evidence-into-policymaking in Africa.
The webinar on the transition to low-carbon economies will take place on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at:
- 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (EDT - Ottawa, Canada)
- 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (WAT - Cotonou, Benin)
- 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (EAT - Nairobi, Kenya)
Everyone is welcome to attend these thought-provoking conversations.
The first webinar, which focused on reproductive health, was held on July 9, 2025.
