New Lancet Series on women’s and children’s health in conflict settings

A Series of articles in the Lancet presents informative research from an IDRC-supported project on interventions to improve our understanding of women’s and children’s health in conflict-affected zones.

The Series launch event on January 25 was attended by 1,343 people from 85 countries and supported by The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health. Read the full set of Lancet articles here.

Centred on research from the BRANCH Consortium (Bridging Research & Action in Conflict Settings for the Health of Women & Children), partially funded by IDRC and led by Dr Zulfiqar A. Bhutta of the SickKids Hospital’s Centre for Global Child Health, the Series aims to enhance our understanding of and address the unique requirements of providing sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health and nutrition services in conflict settings. The Series’ papers convey ways to fill current evidence and guidance gaps as well as longer term efforts to ensure the most effective health response for these women and children.

A diverse panel of experts, including authors of the articles, shared ideas on how to advance health-related interventions for women and children in conflict zones.
