IDRC at the World One Health Congress

October 26, 2020
The annual World One Health Congress brings together stakeholders and advocates who strongly support an integrated approach to human, animal, and environmental health to address complex and urgent health threats. The main objectives of the platform are the fight against antimicrobial resistance and emerging infectious diseases.

ONE HEALTH PLATFORM

COVID-19 has clearly shown why One Health is key to ensuring the healthy and sustainable future of the planet, which brings an extra layer of urgency and importance to this year’s congress. The program includes presentations on the following themes:

  • One Health science
  • Antimicrobial resistance
  • Science policy interface
  • SARS-COV-2/COVID-19
  • Global health security
  • Vaccination

IDRC is supporting this year’s virtual event and sponsoring the attendance of 35 researchers from low- and middle-income countries to ensure meaningful global representation at the Congress and in the One Health dialogue.

IDRC’s Vice-President of Programs and Partnerships, Dominique Charron, will deliver the keynote speech “The next One Health frontier: Why we should all be talking about climate-resilient food systems”. The keynote will stream on November 2 at 2pm EST, followed by a live Q&A.

As a sponsor, IDRC will also be present through a partner hub in the virtual event space where congress participants can learn more about IDRC and the Centre’s One Health-related work, connect with IDRC participants, and meet in the virtual coffee lounge to discuss big questions relating to this year’s main event topics. The hub, along with its contents and the keynote, will remain online until December 2020.
