Exploring 10 bold scenarios for the future of education
The new foresight study from EdTech Hub, supported by the IDRC-funded initiative EmpowerED, invites educators, policymakers and innovators to imagine what education could look like in 2035 and how we can shape it today.
Titled 10 Scenarios for Education in 2035, the study presents vivid, research-informed visions of the future. The scenarios range from hyper-personalized learning powered by responsible artificial intelligence, to community-led education models, to radical shifts in how we define success in learning. Each scenario is designed to provoke thought, spark dialogue and support long-term planning in education systems around the world.
The study, comprising two thematic reports, is the result of a collaborative foresight process involving education, science and technology experts. It draws on trends in technology, climate, geopolitics and youth movements to explore how education might evolve and what actions can be taken now toward more equitable futures.
To ensure broad accessibility and global relevance, the findings are available in six languages: English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese and Swahili.
Each version includes the full set of scenarios, along with guidance on how to use them in workshops, policy discussions and strategic planning.
