For over 50 years, IDRC has been supporting research to break the cycle of poverty, reduce inequalities and vulnerabilities, and help people live healthier and more sustainable lives.

The Government of Canada is seeking candidates to lead IDRC’s diverse Board of Governors, work with IDRC’s management and represent the Centre with the Minister of International Development, Parliament, governments around the world and other key stakeholders.

The chair is key in establishing the Centre’s strategic direction: ensuring that internal controls, management-information systems and risk-management measures are in place, and monitoring corporate performance against strategic and business development. In addition to reviewing and approving the Centre’s budget and financial statements, the chair monitors the performance of IDRC’s president and chief executive officer.
