The Scholarships program aims to provide financial and professional support for the next generation of artificial intelligence (AI) scholars and practitioners in sub-Saharan Africa. The selected manager will be responsible for call, program, and financial management of two distinct scholarship initiatives:

1) AI4D PhD Scholarships: open to graduate students pursuing a PhD in AI, machine learning, or related disciplines in public universities across Africa, where their research focuses on applications of AI that contribute to advancing sustainable development.

2) AI4D Advanced Scholars Program: open to early career academics in African public universities to pursue responsible AI4D related research projects, and to bring MSc, PhD students, and postdocs on board to support the research.

The Artificial Intelligence for Development in Africa (AI4D Africa) program is a joint endeavour between Sida and IDRC to support innovations, policy research, and skills to spur responsible AI development in Africa.
