The Women RISE (Women’s health and economic empowerment for a COVID-19 Recovery that is Inclusive, Sustainable and Equitable) initiative aims to support action-oriented and gender-transformative research on how women's health and their work (paid or unpaid) intersect and interact in the context of preparedness, response and recovery from COVID-19.
The Two-Stage Call for Proposals for Research Teams was issued on March 8, 2022. If you have questions about this Call and want to learn more, please register to attend this webinar.
Women around the world have borne the brunt of layoffs and loss of livelihoods, sacrificed their health at the frontlines of the pandemic response and disproportionately shouldered the burden of additional caregiving associated with COVID-19.
While the pandemic has deepened pre-existing inequalities and rolled back global gains in gender equality, research, like that supported by Women RISE, will enable us to better understand the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on women.
Research evidence generated by this initiative will inform immediate and medium-term solutions for a post-COVID-19 recovery that will advance gender equality and health equity.
Women RISE will fund up to 20 research teams made up of a low- and middle-income (LMIC) country principal investigator, a Canada-based co-principal investigator and at least one decision-maker co-principal investigator from one of the LMICs where the research is taking place.
