The InnoVet-AMR: Innovative Veterinary Solutions for Antimicrobial Resistance initiative, supported by IDRC and the United Kingdom Department of Health and Social Care, is investing in innovations to reduce antibiotic reliance in livestock production to advance the One Health agenda while safeguarding animal welfare and public health.
As part of the World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW), IDRC is hosting a two-part webinar series. This second webinar will explore global trends and systemic risks at the climate-AMR-animal health nexus through the Foresight InnoVet-AMR project. It will discuss five systemic domain patterns that are reshaping risks and decision-making, and why anticipatory action today is key to protecting tomorrow’s food security and health.
How do these systemic risks interact? Where are the hidden vulnerabilities in animal health? What patterns should we be paying attention to right now, before the crisis deepens?
The discussion will be hosted in English and French, with simultaneous interpretation.
The first webinar, “Bridging the Gap Between Researchers and Policymakers on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Solutions,” will discuss how we can bridge the gap between research and policy to advance alternatives to antimicrobials, with experts from Latin America, Africa and South Asia.
Climate change, antimicrobial resistance, animal health and human health are not separate challenges — they are tightly interwoven forces shaping our future. As extreme weather accelerates disease risks and disrupts food systems, drug-resistant infections are becoming harder to prevent and control in both animals and humans. This is where the One Health approach becomes essential — bringing together experts across sectors to protect health at its source: in our environments, our food systems and our communities.
