Join us in-person or online on Wednesday, November 20, for our Annual Public Meeting, with the theme Responsible AI for development: Innovation, risks and rewards.
By cultivating partnerships with innovators and researchers in the Global South, along with like-minded public and private funders around the world, IDRC is a global leader in support of responsible artificial intelligence (AI) for development. This year’s Annual Public Meeting will provide an overview of IDRC’s AI-related programming and explore IDRC-funded innovations that are already making an impact.
Opening remarks will be provided by IDRC Chairperson Dorothy Nyambi and IDRC President Julie Delahanty.
A panel discussion will then explore the rich landscape of AI development in the Global South, weigh the potential risks and rewards related to AI and provide insights into the important role policy plays in ensuring this disruptive technology can serve humanity rather than harm it.
The panel will feature:
- Laurent Elder: team leader, Artificial Intelligence for Development (AI4D), Education and Science program, IDRC
- Sathy Rajasekharan: IDRC research partner and co-executive director at Jacaranda (PROMPTS project)
- Valérie Traoré: IDRC research partner and founder and CEO of Niyel
