Bill S-211: Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains
On January 1, 2024, the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act came into effect in Canada.
The Act was introduced to drive businesses and government to improve practices by requiring certain government and private-sector entities to report on the measures they take to prevent and reduce the risk that forced labour or child labour is used at any point in their supply chains.
IDRC is in compliance with the Act and takes its responsibility to promote sustainable business and labour practices seriously. We remain committed to taking a leadership role with respect to the ethical, social and environmental issues. IDRC has established various corporate policies and has due diligence in place to reduce the risk of forced and child labour in our supply chains.
Organizations are required to submit their reports to the Minister of Public Safety by May 31 of each year as well as post it on their website.
