Transparency

Transparency means openness. Through the proactive release of information on government activities, programs, policies and services in formats that are easy to find, access and use, transparency allows Canadians to hold the government accountable.

It is the key element in the Government of Canada's Commitment to Open Government, which aims to increase access to data, information and dialogue.

IDRC exercises transparency by providing information on its website as well as in its publications, reports to Parliament and public outreach programs. As a research organization, IDRC also maintains transparency with the research community and the general public by making the results of its projects — studies, papers, articles, etc. — available to all through our Digital Library.

Travel and hospitality
IDRC publishes the travel and hospitality expenses of its senior executives and governors in accordance with the Access to Information Act.

Quarterly financial reports
Federal government departments and Crown corporations must prepare quarterly financial reports for each of the first three quarters of the fiscal year.

Access to information and privacy
As a Crown corporation, IDRC is subject to Canada's laws on access to information and privacy protection.

Info Source
The Info Source  series of publications helps individuals access information about the functions, programs, and activities of government institutions subject to the Access to Information Act and Privacy Act.

International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI)
The IATI, a global initiative to improve the transparency of development and humanitarian resources, makes aid-related information easier to access and understand.

Risk management and audit
IDRC recognizes the risks of operating in some of the world’s poorest countries and works to manage them effectively.

Evaluation
Evaluation provides evidence of how and why research initiatives succeed or fall short of their objectives.
