IDRC is among the agencies proudly representing Canada at the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), October 31 – November 12, 2021, in Glasgow.

As an official UNFCCC observer agency, IDRC supports research to generate innovative, evidence-backed solutions for vulnerable people in developing countries. Our aim? To foster a more equitable, inclusive, and resilient future, while building capacity among future climate leaders to apply this knowledge.

Together with our grantees and partners, IDRC is participating in a range of activities during COP26, including special events, expert panels, and workshops. IDRC-supported researchers and partner organizations will share their work, highlighting how research investments foster innovation in climate adaptation and contribute to evidence-based policy development.

Accelerated, global action on climate change is needed to avoid catastrophic impacts. In the face of the climate crisis, targeted development research is urgently needed now — and it is essential that research voices from the Global South are heard.

Building a resilient future for all means taking lasting action on climate change today.
